Needs update.1970's decor with cracked tiles in the bathroom and a shower that barely works means we will definetly never be back.
Room had a fireplace
Room was very old and worn. Bathroom was disgustingly old with cracks and mold in shower tiles and chipped poceline in the sink that someone did a poor job of attempting to repair. It seemed all the buildings exteriors were in need of some kind of repair, whether it was painting or new roofs or wood needing replaced on outside stairs. It appears that the owners do not put any of their earnings back into the resort. If I had paid full price I would have demanded my money back. Also at this time of year there is nothing open in the imediate area so you have to drive 20 kms back to Picton to get anything you forgot to bring.
Convenient location for our planned activity. Two bedrooms, one of which was a loft.
no heat in main room. Broken. wallpaper falling off. sink rusty. tree branches rubbing on roof disturbed sleep.
Lovely location--imagine it would be really great in warm summer months.
Feel the price was a tad high, considering it's rather "off season" in late September. As a beach resort, it appears to offer much, but in late Sept, not so much, and the price doesn't really reflect that. Also, the Inn, the section we stayed in, while roomy and comfortable, was a bit "tired" in the decor, and again, feel the price a bit high. The restaurant for dinner was very nice, but the fact that breakfast not included in room rate, and $15 for the breakfast buffet, which was very basic, was a bit high. Very pleasant staff in office and restaurant. Would visit again, but most certainly would request lodge or beach house accomodation, as while more pricey, certainly looked more inviting than the Inn.
It was soo peaceful there and the hotel staff were there for our every need....das loved the pool and his pool front room........the food was great though the same ol same of breakfast buffet for three days in a row got a bit boring....
Not that i go to a hotel to watch T.V.............but at night when everyone else was asleep it would have been nice to get more then 8 channels on my T.V set....for the money one pays a few more channels would have been nice......like some movie channels or just anymore then news
Dinning room and service was fine
Room was not acceptible for the price charged nor the cleanliness they need new air conditioners
The room was nice, bed comfortable. Tv in each room and nice tub. Room 117 in the annex. The restaurant was nice for the price breakfast or a continental should be included or nice coffee vouchers perhaps. On line booking was easy
Didn't realize until we drove away that we left a 35 dollar tip on our Thursday dinner at the knoll. We wrote 25.00 tip but on the bill it said 35.00. We did not go back because we really liked David our servier.
Very friendly staff and very accomidating and helpful. The food in the resturants was very good.
The rooms are very dated. Floors and furniture and bathrooms needed to be brought to the 2000'S. Even with the rooms clean, the rooms just appeared not clean because every thing is old.
Staff were courteous and helpful. The beds were comfortable.
The resort is very run down and over-priced given its condition. The room decor looked liked it had not been updated in many years and had not been thoroughly cleaned (E.G. the coffee pot had not been emptied for some time and the sink was full of gouges and scratches. The exterior of the building was badly in need of painting and the outdoor carpet was worn to the point of being dangerous. Holes in the carpet on the outside stairs could easily trip up a client and lead to a serious fall. A children's play house had been newly painted but was still out of bounds. Why paint it so late in the season, after families with small children have begun to arrive ? The cottages were in poor repair and needed painting. One even had a hole in the porch roof. The bar lacked certain kinds of beer and wine that were supposedly available. The breakfast was over-priced. Even coffee was extra. This resort is over-priced, given its aging, run-down condition. The owners need to decide whether they're serious about running a competitive resort and invest money in a thorough modernization or go out of business.
Location to Sand Banks Park
Clean rooms and friendly staff. Linens and beddings fresh. The free day pass to Sandbanks Provincial Park was a real perk that we did not expect and really enjoyed many times throughout the week. Also enjoyed the gas fire place and jacuzzi tub in our room. A real treat. The grounds were pleasantly kept with many flowers and the entrance pond was wonderful for pictures.
Rooms could use a freshening-up with some paint and a few little touch-ups. Was disappointed in the extras which were poorly kept or not functioning ie. sauna, pool. We found the bed a little too soft for out liking but that may be a personal preference.
This was a return visit after almost 15 years. The facility looked tired. Staff looked tired, even at the beginng of the season. Not all services were in place, on one level that was to be expected, but a turned off vending machine! The bed and sleep were fine. The rest of the room smelt slightly of mold/locked up for a period of time. Unfortunately we will not return; not can we recommend it to others. We felt like it's time had passed by and they have not kept up.
Attended a wedding was a beautiful day, would love to come back for a vacation
Changes have recently been made to freshen, update the resort's lodge accomodation (new signage, beds, furniture, carpeting).
The resort continues to need more freshening, updating to improve upon its appearance (heating system, draperies over sky-lights, mirrors, worn furniture, lamps).
room was very "tired" right from entry door with its paint flaking off to its bathroom with a dirty tub and a sink that should be replaced.
